When renting out holiday properties, the risk of disputes is very real. Carrying out a few checks beforehand can help you avoid unpleasant surprises.

14% of French people have already been involved in a dispute relating to a property rental*, and holiday rentals are no exception to this rule.

To minimise risks, there are certain precautions you should take. It is advisable to choose well-known and secure platforms, whilst paying close attention to the booking terms and, above all, the cancellation policy, which can vary from one offer to another. To avoid any potential disputes, you can request a contract, check the terms and conditions, and carry out a property inspection on arrival and departure.

Tips

  • Before booking, take the time to read reviews from previous guests and compare prices with those on the market to spot any discrepancies.

  • It is also important to ask for further details about the property: recent photos, a detailed description, the location… all of which help to make the process more secure.
