The IMA Group and Fédésap sign an unprecedented partnership agreement
For the recognition and professionalization of the profession of environmental technician.
Against a backdrop of severe labor shortages in the home care sector—with nearly 500,000 positions to be filled by 2030 in France (France Stratégie)—and faced with growing challenges in terms of attractiveness and service quality, the IMA Group, a leading provider of home assistance and support services, and Fédésap have announced an ambitious partnership. Its aim is to enhance the professionalization of the home care technician profession. This is a useful response to major societal challenges such as an aging population, home care for vulnerable individuals, and support for chronic illnesses.
Through this structured training project, the first of its kind in France, the two partners aim to lay the foundations for a truly recognized, secure, and accessible professional sector that meets the needs of the industry and the growing expectations of individuals, society, and its funders (the government, local authorities, insurers, etc.).
A concrete response to the needs on the ground
This partnership aims to:
- Structure the conditions for a qualifying training program, in line with the professional expertise of the sector;
- Strengthen the skills of those involved through a system adapted to the realities on the ground;
- Enhance the profession by giving it the official and lasting recognition it deserves;
- Lay the foundations for new referencing criteria, in line with this increase in skills;
- Improve the quality of services provided to beneficiaries: according to an internal study by Fédésap (2023), 75% of beneficiaries perceive an improvement in quality when caregivers are trained.
Today, less than 30% of home care workers have a recognized professional diploma or certification. It is therefore essential to structure a sustainable and rewarding sector that is capable of responding to the urgent need for recruitment and the demand for quality.
A partnership with significant social and societal benefits
By combining their expertise, Fédésap and the IMA Group aim to promote:
- The inclusion of new talent in the home care sector;
- The retention of professionals through recognition of their expertise;
- The continuous development of skills among those who choose to pursue a career in the home care sector;
- The promotion of a quality standard recognized by the French government/France Compétences. Each year, Fédésap member organizations provide more than 40 million hours of home care services.
With this partnership, Fédésap and the IMA Group are reaffirming their commitment to a stronger, more attractive sector that is capable of responding to sociological and demographic changes in France.
The environmental technician is the first point of contact and the primary source of support for millions of people. They promote gender equality, improve employee productivity, and provide temporary and long-term support to vulnerable individuals.
