Motorcycles: what to do before getting back on the road

After a long period of inactivity, it is essential to check your motorbike before getting back on the road. A few simple checks will ensure you can set off safely and avoid any unpleasant surprises.

After several weeks, or even several months, without riding, certain parts of your motorbike deserve special attention before you get back on the bike.

  • The first point concerns tyres. Over time, tyres can become brittle. It is therefore important to check their condition, ensure they are not too worn and that the pressure is correct.

  • You should then check the battery, which may have run flat after a long period of inactivity. The brake fluid, brake pads and fuel and oil levels should also be checked.

Finally, lighting must not be overlooked: seeing and being seen are essential for travelling safely. It is therefore essential to check your lights before setting off.

These few checks will ensure you can get back on the road with peace of mind. And if, despite these precautions, something unexpected were to happen, the IMA Group’s teams are on hand 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to support motorcyclists and provide them with a suitable solution. Have a safe journey and please ride carefully.
