Milan, October 27, 2025IMA Italia Assistance, the Italian subsidiary of Groupe IMA, a leader in assistance services, announces two important developments that strengthen its presence in the safe mobility sector.

The first concerns its partnership with SoSafe, an advanced app equipped with accident detection technology that automatically sends emergency services in the event of an incident. In a market where motorists are looking for increasingly personalized coverage, the insurance sector has seen significant growth in complementary guarantees.

Designed as a passive safety system for cars, SoSafe operates in Italy, where the vehicle fleet is among the oldest in Europe, with an average age of 13 years in 2024 and more recent estimates of around 12 years and 2 months in May 2025. Thanks to its integration with IMA Italia Assistance services, the SoSafe app guarantees immediate intervention: the IMA Italia Assistance Center, active 24/7, receives real-time alerts from the app—including GPS location and severity rating—and coordinates the dispatch of emergency services whenever necessary.

A new strategic milestone has been reached with the unprecedented collaboration with MAG Mobility, an Italian insurance broker with a strong presence in the automotive sector. Thanks to this partnership, MAG Mobility becomes the distributor of IMA Italia Assistance products to car and motorcycle dealers. IMA coverage will be distributed through an extensive distribution network, allowing dealers to integrate assistance services directly into their commercial offerings to their customers. The complete roadside assistance package includes towing, breakdown service, replacement vehicle, hotel and taxi expenses, passenger repatriation, or continuation of the journey.

The SoSafe accident detection technology integrated into MAG Mobility products is based on the “Smartphone as a Sensor” principle and uses the sophisticated hardware of modern smartphones to detect impacts and anomalies, while the proprietary algorithm analyzes parameters such as speed, acceleration, and stress to quickly identify a potential accident. To confirm the reliability of the system, SoSafe has been tested in intensive crash tests at the Politecnico di Milano. The platform also records essential data—GPS position, date, time—and offers the ability to capture photos and videos, which are useful for accurate accident management.

Gian Maria Sulas, CEO & Founder of PPT, comments: "PPT was created to offer the market new data-driven mobility solutions. It was with this in mind that SoSafe was born, an intelligent driving protection system that allows anyone with a smartphone to access a portfolio of services designed to ensure their safety at the wheel and protect their vehicle against theft and breakdowns. It is a true global extension of the highest safety standards, which finds its natural strategic and operational culmination in the partnership with IMA."
