The Square, certified as "Eco Jardin"
Since 2019, Le Square has brought together across more than 15,000 m² the operations of the IMA Group’s Nantes-based subsidiaries, IMATECH and IMA Protect, as well as those of MACIF.
Located in Nantes, the site has just been awarded the EcoJardin certification, a distinction that recognizes the responsible management of its green spaces and highlights the commitments made to environmentally friendly practices (ecological management of soil, water, waste, etc.).
What is the Eco Jardin Label?
The certification is awarded for three years, and then every five years after the first renewal.
The Eco Jardin certification is open to all local governments, public agencies, businesses, and individuals. It aims to provide a framework for progress in the sustainable management of landscaped areas.
Some initiatives implemented at the Square
At Le Square, numerous eco-friendly practices have earned the certification:
- Eco-grazing, in partnership with Ecopâturage 44, to reduce green waste from mowing and contribute to natural soil fertilization, which benefits local flora and fauna. Learn more.
- A microforest, designed using the Miyawaki method, which makes it possible to recreate a forest ecosystem rich in biodiversity in a small area (100 to 5,000 m²).
A project involving dense, fast-growing plantings, which will allow locally adapted trees to grow about 1 meter per year, creating a natural haven in just a few years. - Employment of people with disabilities for the management of green spaces, in partnership with the adapted enterprise SAPRENA.
- A water-efficient irrigation system, based on rainwater harvesting using a 20,000-liter tank.
Initiatives aimed at better utilizing green waste will soon be implemented, notably through the expansion of composting. Dry hedges (or Benjes hedges) will also be planted to serve as natural living fences.

An ambitious initiative to protect biodiversity and all living things
The Square site is committed to a process to obtain LPO certification (League for the Protection of Birds), which will enable comprehensive and regular monitoring of the biodiversity present in its green spaces.
Achieving the LPO “Refuge” certification for businesses—valid for five years—will enable the implementation of a management plan for the site’s fauna, flora, and soil.

Le Square, a modern and eco-friendly corporate campus
Located along the Erdre River, Le Square consists of two bright, open buildings with a capacity for 1,000 employees.
The building has already received several recognitions for its environmental performance, including WELL certification, HQE certification at the “Excellent” level, and the “Energie Carbone E2C1” label.
