A response to the challenges faced in one’s personal or professional life.

At a time when one in five people in France is affected by a mental health condition each year* and a third of them do not know where to turn**, the IMA Group is launching its new ‘Wellbeing – Mental Health’ service. Designed for everyone and built around the expertise of IMA’s Interdisciplinary Medical-Social Platform (PIMS), this non-stigmatising service is a particularly suitable solution for companies or government departments whose staff are experiencing difficulties in the workplace. In 2022, psychological disorders became the second leading cause of sick leave after common illnesses***.

  • 48% of employees experienced psychological distress in 2023, with 18% experiencing it to a very high degree - 12th survey on the psychological well-being of French employees, conducted by Empreinte Humaine and OpinionWay
  • 30% of public sector workers felt that their work had a negative impact on their health in 2022 - MFP Observatory – Harris Interactive study, June 2022

With its new ‘Wellbeing – Mental Health’ programme, the IMA Group supports people going through a period of upheaval or transition and helps those who have taken a break from work to remain in employment or return to work.

Drawing on the expertise of the IMA Group’s PIMS team, which includes nurses, social workers and occupational therapists, the ‘Wellbeing – Mental Health’ service is offered as part of schemes designed to encourage outbound calls or to provide follow-up support when a request for assistance is made.

  • Step 1: A phone call to inform, persuade and engage the beneficiary
  • Step 2: A PIMS nurse conducts a preventive health assessment, providing a comprehensive overview of the beneficiary’s health and needs
  • Step 3: A PIMS nurse begins providing support based on jointly agreed objectives

Based on motivational coaching, the support provided by the PIMS nurse activates various factors within the patient and, where necessary, refers them to:

  • A care pathway: GP, specialist facilities, medical and psychological centre
  • Local initiatives: cultural, sporting and community-based
  • Partner services and support provisions (e.g. psychological support, teleconsultation service, career assessment, support with returning to work)

Rolled out by several partners of the IMA Group, the ‘Wellbeing – Mental Health’ programme includes a reporting mechanism. It measures the programme’s impact on participants’ lifestyles and the extent to which set objectives have been achieved.

Valérie, a civil servant: “I was already seeing a psychologist, but this support really complements that. Even though she doesn’t know us, the nurse listens carefully and gives us valuable advice. I wanted to be able to get through my job interviews without stress so I could be transferred, as I wasn’t happy in my current role. And it’s done – I’ve just been transferred.”

“It is in our DNA to create solutions that address the real-life needs of our fellow citizens. The mental health of the French population, amidst the recent changes in society and the world of work, has deteriorated significantly. With this new service, we are offering companies and their employees a scheme based on personalised approaches to identify vulnerabilities and provide concrete solutions. The aim is twofold: to support employees experiencing psychological distress and to facilitate the return to work of those who have taken time off.”
